Responsibilities

The admin tasks consist of key areas: Implement, Perform, Provide Technical Support, Recommend Support, Create Documentation. The admin must be able to coordinate between multiple technology teams to:  

  • Implement Infrastructure:

Administrators build and install computer infrastructure, which encompasses hardware, servers, and virtual machines, Perform Maintenance Software must go through regular maintenance, and it’s up to administrators to monitor client systems daily and pinpoint problem areas. They proactively design and install upgrades, releases, and application patches. On a less frequent basis, they also update drivers, servers, and firmware with newer technology.

  • Provide Technical Support:

To always provide technical support to clients, administrators may remain on call during irregular hours. They must respond promptly to issues reported by clients, conducting root cause analysis and going through various testing scenarios for thorough resolution.

  • Create Documentation:

Those in this role must create and maintain documentation for all system-related processes and procedures that they’re in charge of, including project requirements, changes and upgrades, implementation plans, and support tickets. Another paperwork-heavy task is creating summary reports for clients or internal management.

The admin will work closely with the different teams to validate system operability and performance. The VM admin also works to coordinate and resolve schedule conflicts and collisions of different projects.

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills 

  • Intermediate level of Knowledge/Responsibility Redhat/Centos
  • Expert level knowledge of UNIX/Linux (L3).
  • Expert level knowledge on automation/configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Python
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Linux servers in virtualized environments
  • Performance troubleshooting and capacity planning
  • Troubleshooting, Installation, maintenance, and tuning of Linux / Unix OS.
  • Strong knowledge on server hardware and software
  • Prepares installs, and implement Linux / UNIX operating software and associated components
  • Experience on User Administration using LDAP
  • VMware Administration – Virtualization techniques or any other virtualization technology • Experience on system security, patching and upgradations.
  • Strong knowledge of host-based SAN migrations and good experience with SAN LUNS scanning and mapping etc.,
  • Proficient with LVM and Linux File systems
  • Ability to tune kernel/System parameters
  • Knowledge on Oracle ASM and SAN Storage
  • Experience/Troubleshooting TCP/IP, Routing, DNS, NFS
