About the Role
As a Data Analyst at American Express, you will play a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights. Your responsibilities will include analyzing complex datasets, creating visualizations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business decisions. The role requires a blend of analytical skills and business acumen, making it ideal for someone who is both technically adept and strategically minded.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Analyze large amounts of data (both internal and external) to derive strategic insights to focus on mid to long term future of AXP
- Leverage the power of closed loop through Amex network to make decisions more intelligent and relevant
- Work independently with partners/customers to deliver on custom value analytics & actionable insights
- Utilize broad set of analytical tools/techniques for data mining, data cleansing, data extraction, analysis & transformation, data interpretation & insights
- Experience consulting while working with business owners and recommending appropriate solutions based on clear understanding of business needs
- Work on various inhouse reporting tools to pull standard & custom reports
- Collaborate with analytical teams across different regions, both in India and globally, to share best practices, leverage expertise, and align on strategic priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Good programming skills are a must
- Knowledge of SAS, Java, Hive, Pig, Python, SQL, Lumi is a plus
- Knowledge of MS Office – PowerPoint, Excel
- Knowledge of predictive modeling and advanced AI/ML algorithms is a plus
- Effective in written and verbal communication with partners located globally

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/ Masters in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering with relevant experience
- Post Graduate degree (MBA/MS/M.Tech or similar) in subjects like Marketing, Business, Analytics or Engineering from a reputed institute
- For Sr. Analyst, at least 2 years of relevant work experience in analytics supporting either risk, marketing, or digital product functions
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to apply quantitative methods and business skills to drive business results and provide action steps in a fast-paced environment
- Creative thinker with ability to learn quickly and navigate through unstructured initiatives and work effectively in a team environment and across a matrix organization partnering with business partners and functional owners with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
